Of all the Bloodlines, this is perhaps the least understood, the darkest, and the most alien or monstrous. They are truly known and understood only by their own kind. The Noctulians are masters of illusion. In actuality, they are far beyond that, for they are consciously aware and individuated aspects of illusion itself, as well as its force and form. They can appear as anything and tend to use whatever form will yield the best results. They have “no face” in the sense that they can wear any face. Beyond good and evil in their morals and ways, they are the most fluid and unpredictable of all the Bloodlines.

They maintain what is most useful to them in any given situation, typically following the laws, customs, and ideas of whatever earthly time period they appear in to preserve their presence. While not strictly vampiric in the classic sense, they savor the essence contained in blood, as it imparts solidity and anchors them to their ever-shifting reality. They feed on the essence contained in the Abyss and can draw essence from any dimension. Deeply connected to the astral realms and dreams, they have, over time, come to be seen as a type of vampiric entity.

Those of the Noctulian bloodline are typically horrifying when they are truly seen or felt. This is largely due to their alien nature and the fact that their manifested being holds every possible formation. They enjoy pain, torture, and nightmares as much as they enjoy love, kindness, and beauty. They tend toward extremes when they manifest in their “true” forms. Those of the House of Noctulius belong to the Abyss with all of its potentials. They walk the earth and the astral realms to maintain coherence. Ever watching and eternally present, they are the Night itself.

They are associated with death and all its energies due to their connection to the Abyss. Equally, they are associated with creation because of the same connection. Some Lovecraftian elder gods have been equated with those of the House of Noctulius, though this is likely just the power of nightmare creation at play. Or is it? Could these be pets or relations? Who can say, except one of the Noctulians themselves—and they are not known for speaking or truly sharing what they know, except with their own kind.

When walking the earth, they are unseen except by the most observant of supernatural creatures. Because extremes of passion and pain are pleasurable to those of this bloodline, they are often near when such extremes occur, appearing astrally to feed rather than in physical form. Those of the House of Noctulius do not war, and it is said their love is unfathomable. Those who oppose them cease to exist. Those whom they love become immortal.
