The Varcolac are undead creatures who hold the power of shapeshifting
and are said to feed on the energies of the Sun and the Moon, devouring
cosmic Essence to fuel their immortality. They typically take the form
of wolves and are said to inhabit places deep within the forests. It is
speculated that although they mainly assume the form of wolves, they can
range in size from a small canine to monstrously huge depending on their
needs. When they enter cities, they are rumored to appear as medium-sized
stray dogs, lurking near homes and in the shadows. The observant will
perhaps notice an uncanny reddish tinge to their fur and the glint of red eyes.
They are Earth-based and possess strange heightened gifts that are extensions of the natural into the supernatural and beyond. Those of the Varcolac line hold the gifts of heightened strength, endurance, and a deep, ever-present watchfulness. Much like the wolves that they shapeshift into, they possess the gifts of supernatural sight, hearing, and smell, and tend to form deep and eternal family bonds. Their ways are clever and mysterious, and their powers are known fully only to those of their kind. |
